Creating a "Space" to Realize the Sustainable Development Goals
Click here for Hotel Anteroom Naha's Sustainable Policy

Hotel Anteroom Naha is working to align its activities with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) along the following axes.

Anteroom means "waiting room." As the name suggests, we provide a "space" where guests can meet those working on environmental and social issues.
1. Providing a Hotel Space Where Guests Can Learn About the SDGs
We offer a hotel space and stays that can host pop-up stores and lectures, allowing those working on SDGs to share their efforts with a wider audience.
We hope that by engaging more people and continuing to spread the word, we can make our efforts more sustainable.

▼Specific Initiatives
- For guests staying multiple nights, we offer a more affordable ECO plan that does not require linen cleaning. This reduces wastewater emissions and energy consumption associated with linen cleaning.
・Our hotel shop sells products aligned with the principles of the SDGs, such as Okinawan-sourced amenities like Okinawan Kucha and coral-friendly sunscreen that protects the ocean.

2. Do what you can, little by little. Replace what you can.

We are gradually replacing amenities and small items used in daily service operations with more environmentally and socially responsible options.

▼Specific Initiatives
・We have replaced the straws used in our restaurants with biodegradable Okinawan pineapple straws made from discarded pineapple leaves.
・We have replaced plastic takeout containers with wooden or paper ones.
・We have digitized our paper check-in cards.
・We have switched from providing amenities in all rooms to a buffet style where guests can choose as many as they need.
・We have replaced in-room slippers with reusable beach sandals.

3. Use Okinawan products whenever possible.

We will use local Okinawan products whenever possible, contributing to the sustainable development of the local economy and reducing the energy used in transporting goods.

▼Specific Initiatives
・The following items are sold in our shops, restaurants, and lounges:

・Grippy smoothies made with young soybean leaves grown by the "Taman" employment support center

・Coffee leaf tea made with coffee leaves grown in Okinawa

・100% Okinawan tamanu oil

・Cake and other menu items developed using karaki (cinnamon) from Ogimi, Yanbaru

・Original coasters made from scraps of Kariyushi wear, made from bagasse, the residue left over from sugarcane pressing.

4. Each hotel staff member is given a unique career and job satisfaction.

At Hotel Anteroom Naha, we encourage and support hoteliers to develop strengths that are separate from their professional skills.

We encourage our hotel staff to find job satisfaction and continue to grow in their careers.

▼Specific Initiatives
- We support staff who have unique strengths beyond their hotelier skills, such as art curators who are taking on the challenge of hosting solo exhibitions and events, staff with diverse backgrounds who develop menus, and repair technicians who utilize their knowledge from previous jobs.
- We create a workplace environment where everyone can work with peace of mind, including a system for registering opposite-sex common-law marriages and same-sex partners.
