【24.1.20 Sat-2.25 Sun】やんばるアートフェスティバル2023-2024
Exhibition Period:2024年01月20日 - 2024年02月25日
Hotel Anteroom Naha will be exhibiting at the Yanbaru Art Festival 2023-2024, being held in the northern part of Okinawa's main island.
This marks the hotel's fourth time exhibiting at the festival, and this time we have invited yan2, the creator of the piece located just inside the hotel's main entrance, to create a seawater-powered power generation device, evoking the Okinawa Yanbaru Seawater Pumped Storage Power Plant—the world's first power plant to use seawater as a power generation system, which once stood in Yanbaru.
This work, positioned as volume 3 of yan2's TEFCO(*1) project, uses waste materials from the hotel and parts collected in Okinawa to create a solar-powered seawater pumping device and waterwheel, creating a renewable power generation system.
The power generation device, which stands tall in the science lab, uses energy conduction and hydroelectric power generation, and the parts involved in it to generate inefficient, self-generated electricity, reconsidering the issues of electricity and energy, which are essential to human life.
*1 TEFCO (Tokyo Electricity Farming Community):
This project aims to foster and cultivate electricity literacy, a vital infrastructure for our lives, through the creation of power generation and storage devices and the sharing of electricity generated within an exhibition space.
Yan2 Artwork (Hotel Artwork)
The venue will feature exhibits by numerous artists from within and outside the prefecture, as well as crafts for sale within the prefecture.
Please take this opportunity to visit Yanbaru.
