Work Commentary:
Round: The ever-changing Okinawan sunlight is caught and reflected by the black circle, as
if it’s quietly watching over everything. Sometimes, it might be nice to look at a muted,
gentle light instead.
Wallpaper: Wallpaper stretches across the room where our everyday life unfolds.
The same old scenery. A dull routine, a tired today. I trace the uneven texture of the
wallpaper with a pencil. Seen from a place removed from those ordinary days, it appears
like an entirely different landscape.
PROFILE
Born in Fukushima Prefecture, works in Okinawa Prefecture. In 2009, she received an MA
in Sculpture from the Environmental Design Major of the Graduate School of Formative
Arts at Okinawa Prefectural University of Arts. Using the everyday spaces within buildings
as a motif, she uses found objects such as construction materials and household items to
create assemblage pieces which serve as temporary structures examining the relationships
between people and things, or between people and the environment.
