Work Commentary:
This work, ‘Transparent’, was created with spatial composition in architecture and painting, and the concepts underlying architecture and painting as its core. To express the concept of “space and time,” the motifs of “chair,” “lighting,” and ‘stairs’ were selected. The “chair” functions to connect people and space, allowing them to remain in a place or relax. “Stairs” enable vertical movement within space, introducing three-dimensional spatiality. “Lighting,” or “light,” can represent ‘time’ through the shifting shadows caused by the movement of the light source. These chosen motifs are images that prompt the viewer to evoke new “space and time” within the picture plane itself, and they also function as devices for creating those spaces and times.
