Artist Statement:
Okinawa is home to numerous sacred places known as Utaki. These sacred places are quietly nestled within the magnificent natural landscape, and are where people have since ancient times offered prayers and expressed gratitude for the life sustained by nature. RED DOT (BIO) draws inspiration from Utaki. Over endless time, layers of earth accumulate, rise from the ocean to form land upon which plants sprout, life takes root, and people live. This process was entrusted to each individual dot and depicted in the entrance space of HOTEL ANTEROOM NAHA.
