Work Commentary:
The works “About a Certain Mountain” and “About a Certain Mountain 2020” are a series of drawings created in Okinawa, where I currently live, while reflecting on memories and thoughts, using a mountain in my hometown of Niigata as a model. In early spring, the shape of a “leaping horse” formed by lingering snow appears on the foothills of this mountain. Local people observe this shape to determine the timing for sowing seeds and rice planting.
