About the Beach

Located just beyond the windbreak forest, Kumaza Beach is a pristine natural coastline where untouched nature remains. This beach has been cherished by the local community for generations.

Beach Access

The beach can be accessed via the pathway through the windbreak forest.

  • Safety Notice: There are no lifeguards on duty. Please keep a close watch on children and swim safely.
  • Marine Life & Swimming: There are no jellyfish nets or designated swimming areas. Please be careful not to touch any dangerous marine life.
  • Drone Usage: Permission from Miyakojima City is required for drone photography.
  • Rental marine items are available at the reception. We also have swimwear for purchase. Please feel free to ask.

  • Beach Clean-up

Due to seasonal winds and ocean currents, large amounts of marine debris wash ashore on Kumaza Beach during the winter season. The volume is such that even with daily cleaning by our staff, it is difficult to keep up.

At the rescape, we offer "Myahk"—a distinct local currency usable on Miyako Island—to guests who participate in our beach clean-up activities. This currency can be used at our on-site shop, restaurant, and other participating locations.

  • Please inquire at the front desk to participate.
  • We will provide gloves, tongs, and trash bags.

  • You are welcome to join at any time, whether before check-in or after check-out.
