Suijigai: A Guardian at the Entrance
Hanging at the entrance of each room is the suijigai, a shell with six protrusions that has long been used in Okinawa as a protective charm. Traditionally displayed at homes and along roads to ward off evil, it now welcomes guests into a simple and serene place.
