【EVENT】12/14（土）開催 ドキュメンタリー映画 『Branching Paths』から考えるインディーゲームとクリエイターの未来
京都のアート＆カルチャーのいまを発信するホテルアンテルーム京都。
観光や歴史だけではない、いまの京都の魅力に迫るため、京都で育まれ、世界に広がっていったゲームカルチャーに注目しイベントを企画しました。
スーパーマリオブラザーズを生んだ任天堂の登場から、Bitsummitに代表されるインディーゲームの盛り上がり、学術的研究を進めるゲームスタディーズまで、様々なイノベーションを起こしてきたゲームカルチャーの魅力に迫っていきます。
その初回となる今回は、日本のインディーゲームのシーンを追いかけたドキュメンタリー映画『Branching Paths』を上演！
そして、アン・フェレロ監督とインディーゲームのクリエイターをお招きしたトークセッション！
京都のゲームファンが集うKyoto Indie Meetupを同時開催いたします。
映画が見つめた「日本のゲームカルチャーの今」から、これからの時代を生きる「クリエイターの未来」が見えてきます。

＊インディーゲームとは、Independent gameの略称で、個人や小規模な開発チーム、企業、サークルなどによって作られたビデオゲームの総称です。
ゲームの開発ソフトの進化や、インターネットによる販売ルートの拡大に伴い、オリジナリティや作家性に富んだビデオゲームが数多く輩出されています。
＊Kyoto Indie Meetupとは、月に一回、ゲームファンとクリエイターが京都に集まり、いま制作中のゲームを見せ合ったり、プレイして楽しむ国際色豊かな集いです。
HOTEL ANTEROOM KYOTO brings together art and culture expressing the essence of “ever-changing contemporary Kyoto” through various activities.
This time, we are hosting an event that will focus on video game culture that has spread throughout the world from Kyoto.
We will approach this topic by looking at the charm of game culture that appears in Kyoto, such as Nintendo, game studies and BitSummit.
First of all we will show the documentary film “Branching Paths”, which depicts the indie game scene in Japan.
Following that we will hold a talk session with Anne Ferrero (the movie director of Branching Paths), as well as other indie game creators.
Finally, we will host the Kyoto Indie Meetup, where game fans of Kyoto gather.
Our goal is to look at “the future of the creator” from “the present of Japanese game culture”.
We hope that you will join us.
