蘇嶐窯では、明治に活躍した
京焼青瓷の第一人者
「涌波蘇嶐(わくなみそりゅう)」に始まり、
四代にわたって京都で
伝統技術を守り受け継がれてきました。

蘇嶐窯が誕生したきっかけは、
当代の福岡・小石原焼の窯元の奥様とのご結婚。
小石原焼は江戸時代から親しまれ、
陶器の表面にも見られる
「飛び鉋(とびかんな)」
という技法が特徴の一つです。

福岡と京都の伝統が融合してできた独特のスタイル。
その作風と幅広いラインナップは、
海外の方含め多くの方々に愛されています。

Soryu-gama pottery’s history began about 100 years ago from “Wakunami Soryu” who is very famous potter at that time, and it has succeeded to 4th generation with traditional and genuine skill in Kyoto. Because the Fourth Wakunami Soryu (current head) and his wife who is also born in the potter’s family in Fukuoka got married, mixed brand new style, Soryu-gama was born. His wife’s hometown has been popular place for pottery since Edo period(1603 ~ 1868), and her family has been succeeded to the present, 14th generation !! Combined with two different local styles, that makes them very original.
